Please find below a clearer schedule for Parliamentary tea alarms for Wednesday 2nd September 2026. This is the time that tea should be served, therefore please allow good time for water to be boiled, and tea brewing to be commenced before service.

  • 10 minutes prior to Prime Minister’s Question Time, at 12:00 BST (11:00 GMT). This is approximately the time that the Prime Minister will leave 10 Downing Street.*

As it is the first Prime Minister’s Question Time of a new Prime Minister, we suggest extra biscuits, or perhaps a Manchester Tart. Honey is permitted in tea for this occasion.

As it is normally tradition to have an ‘Afternoon Tea’ for any tea related alarm between the hours of 2PM and 6PM UK time, we can confirm that there are no scheduled ‘Tea Alarm’ clashes, allowing Afternoon and High Tea services to be conducted as normal.

* Larry, Chief Mouser to the Cabinet will be unable to provide tea services to the Press Corps due to the moving of belongings in and out of Downing Street. There is a Wetherspoon pub based approximately 500M away which will provide a ‘takeaway’ tea service for those in desperate need. Alternatively Sophie Ridge can be cloned for a 6th time to assist in such duties (We know your game Sky News!).
